Facing the New Year
Dec. 21, 2013

In 1978 I went abroad for the first time to teach aikido.

Since then, which is more than 35 years ago now, you have been supporting me in my efforts to convey the thoughts of Tendoryu aikido. You have been practicing enthusiastically and with dedication. For that I want to express my gratitude.

My concern for the future is to continue teaching a convincing, in the basics rooted aikido.

I wish you and your families a peaceful Christmas season and a healthy New Year.

Due to the merger of Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd with Mizuho Bank Ltd there has been some changes. In Germany it affects the name of the bank and in Japan the SWIFTCode. Please keep that in mind when doing transactions in the future:

GERMANY old: Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd. new: Mizuho Bank Ltd.

The Summer Seminars 2013 with Shimizu Sensei and Wakasensei Kenta
July 26, 2013

Peter Nieblich and his students prepared everything diligently for a harmonious seminar with Shimizu Sensei in the far north of Germany.

Without a gap followed the next fully booked seminar in the Black Forest.

The Herzogenhorn has already become a fixed date for many aikidoka. In the nature, far away from everyday life it is easy to forget all unnecessary stuff and concentrate on the essential things.

It is one week of intensive training – lately also extended by two morning classes by Wakasensei Kenta.

You can find pictures taken on both Friday evenings, the farewell party (1st and 2nd week):

And similar to last year Wakasensei Kenta continued thereafter the trip alone and was teaching by himself in Munich, Berlin and Moers.

Training in the Tendokan - April 2013
May 2, 2013

by Vitaly Chistyakov - Vladivostok

It was a short term trip to Tendokan. My aikido student Andrey and I were staying in Tokyo for a week.

We were practicing intensive keiko in Tendokan every day. It was a very valuable time for me, because every time I go to Tendokan, I feel loaded of Tendoryu spirit that I can pass to my Russian aikido students when I come back to Vladivostok.

March 2013 in Europe
April 6, 2013

Shimizu Sensei and Wakasensei Kenta have safely returned to Japan, where they taught in Maribor - Belgrade - Berlin and Munich. At the end of each seminar there have been some graduations.

Aikido is no competitive sport. We cannot win any cups. It is budo and first and foremost a struggle with oneself to overcome one’s weakness. Gradings are an indication that we are on the right path with our efforts.

Kangeiko at Tendokan 2013

Kangeiko - A Week of 7 days early training, saying hello to the New Year - by Claudia Schaefer

Saturday 12 January, I get on the plane to Japan, Tokyo. I am prepared for one week early training.

Kangeiko - one week of early morning training, I have no idea what I was getting myself into, Birgit has just written, it will be a special training. Ok, so let’s have a look what "special training" means to the Japanese. For me anyway it is a special training because I will train in the Tendokan.

I arrive on Sunday afternoon shortly before training starts in the Tendokan and take the chance to watch the Sunday-Training. Due to the of the fatigue of the flight I do not want to participate. My concentration is not very good and I'm tired from the flight. I watch the training and am again fascinated how light and easy Aikido looks and functions. Everyone is training diligently and with full concentration, I already regret that I have not participated. But safety comes first and my concentration lasts only for a few minutes, than my thoughts start wandering. The Kangeiko-week starts the next morning, so I do not have to wait long for my first training session.
