🔆 A book recommendation by Axel Bergemann, offering us a new perspective on “the Way (Do).”
As above headline indicates, it is very well suited for the time between being with Shimizu Sensei and Kenta Waka Sensei. It helps us remind their words, gain a new viewpoint, and reflect on what all this means for us in person.
Two intensive weeks of training under the watchful eye of Kancho Kenji Shimizu are over. Dynamic techniques, demonstrated by Dojocho Kenta Shimizu, were complemented by instructions from Shimizu Sensei, who also taught us a lot about the essence of Aikido and his time as Uchideshi with Osensei Morihei Ueshiba.
If you would like to take part in this special seminar next year, you can already make a note of the following dates.
1st week: Sun, 6 July - Sat, 12 July 2025
2nd week: Sun, 13 July - Sat, 19 July 2025
This year's organizing team around Yvonne Pfeiffer, Günther Neumann, Jürgen Link, Dirk Drosse, Lars Vollpracht and the NPO tendo world aikido are once again committed to two well-planned Herzogenhorn weeks. There are still a few places available.
Anyone who has not yet been able to decide has the chance to register now - especially for the second week.
We are looking forward to training together under the guidance of Kenji Shimizu (Kancho) and Kenta Shimizu ( Dojocho)

Last year, 2023, was very complex and we did not have the opportunity to hold Aikido Tendoryu seminars in Mexico for various reasons. What is the importance of the seminars? Usually the dojos have one or a few permanent teachers, and the students get used to our words and teaching style. It is to be expected that the students will stop listening because of the monotony. Moreover, if the same voice is always speaking, the ideas may be conveyed in the same way and everything becomes impoverished. Receiving teachers from other dojos allows us to get out of our echo chamber and enrich our perception.
