We want to thank all of you, who have celebrated the 50th anniversary with us.
It was a perfect opportunity to notice, that communication is happening not only by words, but also though the joint practice. Even without the knowledge of foreign languages connections beyond country borders could so be established.
We are looking forward to the next coming 50 years, which already have begun.

Dear Peter,
we have known each other since the beginning of the Tendoryu Aikido in Germany and I remember fondly the talks we had together.
I appreciated your humor and the strong character you were. This humor you never lost even during difficult times. 40 years you were closely connected to the Tendoryu Aikido and always took great efforts to support it. I want to thank you for this time.
You will live on in our memories.

We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Tendoryu Aikido.
In 1969 Shimizu Sensei has started teaching in his own dojo, at that time bearing the name Shimizu Dojo. Nine years later in 1978 Sensei went abroad for the first time for teaching, to Germany. The first seminar took place in Rüsselsheim. Followed by invitations to Serbia and Slovenia ( former Jugoslavia). And over the years Tendoryu Aikido has spread and found friends in various parts of the world.
50 years - this special anniversary we would like to celebrate with all of you - here in Japan. There will be a 4 days program, starting with a seminar in Izu (Kannon Onsen) and concluding with a party in the traditional Happo-en garden, a green oasis in Tokyo.
You all are cordially welcomed. The invitation you find on the seminar list on this homepage.
Tendokan
Dear Jos,
you were my student for a long time and you have supported the Tendoryu Aikido for decades. You were running your own dojo in Genk/Belgium and you were teaching seminars. Sadly we will not be able to see each other again. I will remember you as a valuable and committed aikidoka.
Please rest in peace.

Tendoryu aikido in Mexico resulted directly from the interest of a group of Mexicans wanting to know more about its founder, Shimizu Sensei. Two of the four founders travelled to the German 'black forest' in 1997, with the intention of learning more about Tendoryu aikido. On this trip, they not only visited several Tendoryu aikido dojos in Europe but were invited to participate in a five days intensive seminar with shihan Kenji Shimizu. The link between Shimizu Sensei and Mexico was born in this seminar, and thus began a group authorized to develop a school in Mexico authorized directly by the founder. Twenty one years later, that link remains vital and robust and has been strengthened, bearing as fruit the international seminar November 2018. This is a testimony of the fact that the trust the founder has placed on us, as a country, is requited.
